graph_ics began as a personal visual art project and grew into a Python library for creating sprawling networks of connected nodes. Compositions can grow around text, follow boundaries and respond to density maps, with control over the colours and character of the result. A questionable idea taken far enough to become an April Fools' joke: a sled carrying its own campfire. We built it, took it out on the ice, and gave it a website.
It started as a bad idea and became our April Fools' joke. One evening, I bent and welded the sled together on my terrace, painted it, and mounted the hardware. Then we took it out, used it, and photographed it before making the website. The sled and the outing were real; the product launch was the joke. And yes, some people fell for it.
